Knitting in Paris
I learned to knit many years ago, but since I launched my business I've been so wrapped up in sewing that my knitting needles have taken a bit of a back seat. That all changed when I moved to Paris - I'm always keen to make new pals when I arrive in a new city, so joining a knitting circle seemed like the perfect idea. I'd be able to make a jumper AND some friends!
One day I took a look on Ravelry to see if there were any active groups in the city. There were lots! One was quite close to where I was working at the time, and they would be meeting the next day. Perfect, huh? I thought that maybe I'd try a few groups, see where I felt most at home, and then choose one of them, but I was really lucky and found the right group straight away. My French wasn't very good (I'd only been in Paris for a fortnight, after all) so it was pretty nerve-wracking to walk in and introduce myself, but I did it! I managed to find some great people to sit with; such a mix of people go there, so there were plenty of people speaking both English and French.
Paris has so many creative communities and I feel so lucky to be part of them. The knitting scene here is so vibrant, with lots of independent yarn boutiques across the city. My knitting has been more productive than ever - here are a few things I've made in the last year!
Have you tried knitting before? Have you been to any of the awesome independent yarn shops in Paris?
