The bright star at the center of NGC 3132, while prominent when viewed by NASA’s Webb Telescope in near-infrared light, plays a supporting role in sculpting the surrounding nebula. A second star, barely visible at lower left along one of the bright star’s diffraction spikes, is the nebula’s source. It has ejected at least eight layers of gas and dust over thousands of years.
Using high-resolution astronomical images, each cushion cover starts life on my computer so I can place the central part of the nebula on the front of the cushion cover. I then get my designs custom-printed onto high-quality certified organic cotton in France. I make each cushion cover by hand (and sewing machine!) in my solar-powered French studio, before carefully packaging it up and sending it to its new home.
All my items are beautifully finished and are 100% hand made by me in my French studio.

Roman Telescope brooch
This is the newest piece in my new collection which pays tribute to some of the coolest telescopes around (which all started with my old favourite, the Lovell Telescope). It shows the silver sun shade of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope in shiny mirrored perspex, and comes on a Cepheid Studio-branded backing card. The real Roman Space Telescope is far too big to fit on a necklace chain, so this version is at a scale of approximately 1:2000!

Each of these brooches started its life on my computer. I digitally drew each of the telescope's elements and other necklace components, then translated the designs into files that can be read by my laser cutter. This machine is the focus of my studio, and I’ve spent years hacking and tweaking it to perfection. I laser cut, assemble and polish the piece, before hanging it on a silver plated chain with a lobster clasp closure. I then carefully place it on a Cepheid Studio-branded backing card, ready for wrapping and sending to you, its new owner!
